Tracey Furniss
I am a Hong Kong based journalist and have worked in film, television, newspapers, magazines, books and more recently with online content. I enjoy the whole gamut of media so it's hard to choose where I feel at home.
I won a human rights award (Amnesty International) for a TVB documentary I wrote and produced for The Pearl Report in 2009. It was cool being recognised by my peers especially the FCC and HKJA.
I do enjoy highlighting social issues as well as exploring natural health and educational alternatives for those who don't respond to conventional methods.
I have also written for many travel magazines and books, being a Brit living in Hong Kong and traveling for most of my life, including Fodors (travel guides) Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel, Passport Newsletter and others.
I have edited many children's books for UK publishers such as Puffin and Penguin, and books by Hong Kong writers such as the second edition of Go Green Hong Kong, which I enjoyed as environmental issues are close to my heart - I attended the Bali Climate Summit several years ago.
I also did a stint at CNN in the 90s.
At present I freelance for several British mags and HK film companies working from home so I can spend more time with my son.
Suite 101 seems like a great opportunity for writers to earn extra income from home doing what they love best - writing.
